Bookkeeper and Administrator

Relevant Skills and Knowledge

  • Basic accounting knowledge
  • Understanding accounting best practices

  • Degree or at least one year of experience

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain an accurate record of financial transactions
  • Update and maintain the general ledger
  • Reconciliation of entries into the accounting system
  • Recording of debits and credits
  • Set up payments of invoices
  • Maintain the trial balance, by a reconciliation of general ledgers
  • Account reconciliation to assert the accuracy of transactions
  • Use knowledge of IRD and Charities commission regulations to comply with reporting requirements including: annual return, GST filing, donor receipts
  • Fulfil online book/DVD orders
  • Manage and report stock levels
  • Annual Stock take for reporting and ordering purposes
  • Other duties as required by the Co-CEO’s

This is a part-time, permanent position – 10 hours a week. $28/hour.

Do you have a passion for reading and editing apologetic content? We are on the look out for an editor for the Thinking Matters Articles. These articles discuss topical, cultural, traditional apologetics and reach thousands of New Zealand readers weekly. You will be:

  • Good at scheduling
  • Tactful and encouraging to writers
  • Strong copywriting capability
  • Technologically savvy
  • Have beliefs that align with our Statement of Faith, Mission, vision and values, and Code of Conduct

Youth Development Director

Do you have a passion for apologetics and communicating to youth?

13-18 year olds are often the least likely to engage with apologetics, yet 60% of young people leave the church in this window, so it is a vital mission fields. They have some of the hardest questions about God, the Bible, and culture.

As Youth Development Director, you will work with the Co-CEO’s to develop effective strategies such as events and digital content to engage young people with apologetics and acquire the tools they need to help them defend their faith, navigate the culture, and reach people.

As passionate apologetics enthusiasts, Thinking Matters writers contribute to pushing New Zealand apologetic content to thousands of homes every month.

Writers will contribute one article every two months focuses on an area of apologetics they feel confident and knowledgeable.

It is important that writers adhere to the mission and vision of the Thinking Matters NZ Foundation, while feeling that they are making significant and valued contributions.

Prayer Coordinator

Thinking Matters could not exist without the partnership of strong prayers. At the moment, the prayer team is coordinated by the Co-CEO’s, but this small, volunteer role would be served even better by a strong prayer team coordinator!

If you are a strong prayer and have good organizational skills to coordinate monthly or bi-monthly Zoom prayer meetings, and a fortnightly prayer points digest for those on the prayer team of Thinking Matters. They will also be responsible for adding new members from the prayer team list when people have expressed interest, and removing those from the list who are no longer able to help with us.

The applicant will be able to show discretion around sensitive topics, and understand the value and importance of apologetics, even if they themselves are not proficient in apologetics.
