Regional Seminars

Collaborating with local churches to bring apologetics to regional New Zealand

Thinking Matters is a national ministry, but our work has been focused mostly around large population centres with our conferences and local groups. The regional seminars is a local church collaboration that brings Thinking Matters to your town.In the World today, there are so many different Religions and World Views competing for peoples minds and Souls, that it is very hard for people to see what is the Truth versus what is Counterfeit. People think, can’t all Religions lead to God? And surely a good person will be accepted by “God”, whoever that really is. Layered in on top of this, people have many issues with Christianity, like if there is an all powerfuland all loving God, then why is there pain and suffering in the World and isn’t Christianity out of step with culture today and hasn’t Christianity been responsible for so many bad things in the past. It’s hard enough for me as a Christian to be functional and maintain my job and friendships in the World today without also trying to share my faith, especially if I am not a natural evangelist.

About the Presenter Sam Treadwell

After being a Christian for 20 plus years, I felt challenged to really investigate a number of areas surrounding the Christian Faith, questions like what made me so sure that Christianity was the one true faith and all other Religions counterfeit and issues like the Universe got here. The quest to get to the bottom of these questions has taken me on an amazing journey spanning over seven years, a journey that has now been translated into the Thinking Matters Regional Seminar.
My goal is to help other Christians who share the same questions I had and who seek to better understand some of the more challenging and complex areas surrounding the Christian Faith.
The Seminar is offered to Towns around New Zealand in a Friday Evening, Saturday Format, seeking to take Thinking Matters Apologetics outside of the Main Centers and Conference settings to any town around New Zealand that has the need.
I have recently retired from my position in Corporate Logistics for a large Multi-National Biotechnology Company, where I held several Senior Asia Pacific Roles, based overseas and here in New Zealand.

Regional Seminar Overview

In the World today, there are so many different Religions and World Views competing for peoples minds and Souls, that it is very hard for people to see what is the Truth versus what is Counterfeit. People think, can’t all Religions lead to God? And surely a good person will be accepted by “God”, whoever that really is.

Layered in on top of this, people have many issues with Christianity, like if there is an all powerful and all loving God, then why is there pain and suffering in the World and isn’t Christianity out of step with culture today and hasn’t Christianity been responsible for so many bad things in the past.

It’s hard enough for me as a Christian to be functional and maintain my job and friendships in the World today without also trying to share my faith, especially if I am not a natural evangelist.

The Thinking Matters Regional Seminar seeks to address these three fundamental issues facing Christians today.
Over one Friday evening and Saturday period, the Seminar leads participants through a journey starting with all seven World views and uses Science and Reason to establish that Christianity is the most Reasonable World view.

Having established that there is very sound reason for the Christian faith, the Seminar addresses the major issues and challenges laid at the feet of Christianity today, including Pain and suffering, proof of the Resurrection, what Christianity has done for the World over History, can the Bible be trusted and insights into how to think about and treat our LGBTQ+ friends and family.

Having provided sound reason for the faith we hold and addressed the major issues leveled at Christianity, the Seminar looks at how you can share your faith in a gentle and respectful way.

This is of course a lot of material to cover in a little over eight hours. There is time for questions and sharing of views in amongst a Seminar that looks to make the very most of the time available and equip participants with very useful tools to help them in a largely secular and increasingly unfriendly World. Participants should come prepared to focus carefully and engage seriously with the material shared.

Participants will come away with very sound reasons with which to defend their Christian faith. Equipped with tools to better help their friends and loved ones to understand why it is that Christianity stands as the Truth and the light in the World today.
